look at you kid

My entry today follows this week's sketch challenge over at Sketch Saturday.

<<< Here is the sketch.

I had a delve around in what has become my scrap mountain, to make this card. I need to do this more often, rather than reaching for a new sparkly fresh piece of 12 x 12!!

I also haven't done any distressing for a while and was having withdrawal symptoms, so I have done quite a bit on this card.

All patterned papers are from the Fancy Pants ~ Papa collection and these are backed onto Bazzill cardstock.

I cut the little circles with a circle punch and added litte ribbon fishes. My sentiment is a large designer eyelet which reads: Look at You Kid and is by We R Memory Keepers.

The image is Ian from The Greetings Farm. I coloured him with my copics and paper pieced the little fish he's holding.
I added a little plastic skeleton fish from my stash.

Thank you for looking.

miss anya with flower basket

I LOVE these Miss Anya stamps, they stamp so beautifully, first time, every time. My entry today is for the Truly Scrumptious Challenge, where they have another fab sketch:

As well as the sketch, there is another part to the challenge: 'we also want to see something shiny on your cards; maybe some miri card or a charm - anything that would attract a magpie's eye!!'

Well I hadn't noticed this second part to the challenge until I went to write up this posting. As luck would have it, I had included a charm, something which I hardly ever do! Spooky!

Here is my take on the sketch:

All patterned papers are Sassafraslass ~ Serendipity: Happy Place - Pot of Gold. Fortunately, this has a co-ordinating scalloped edged, which fitted in well with the sketch.
All plain cardstock is Bazzill. I combined the image and circular section of the sketch into one piece, to create the base on which Miss Anya stands. It isn't really a big white blob. If you zoom in, you should be able to see that the white cardstock has leaves embossed into it. I have cut round the leaves, to create the shape that you see.

Here is Miss Anya from The Greeting Farm. I coloured her up with my copics.
The crushed velvet brads and the velvet flower ribbon are from Doodlebug. Flowers are Prima.
The little flower charm and bead are from a cheap bracelet I bought off of a Spanish beach!

Thank you for looking.

no place like home

The Sunday challenge this week at Dottie's World has been set by Louise. The task is 'to make a shaped card this week - any shape other than squares or rectangles please!Oh and don't forget your Charmed download!'.

My card is shaped like a house:

All papers used are from the Heidi Grace ~ A Little Bird's Tale collection. I cut the shaped roof base from Paisley paper. I then cut out some of the paisley motifs from the remaining cardstock, curled them up and stuck part of each motif over its corresponding motif on the base card. I was trying to achieve a roof tile effect with a difference!
I made the door separately and attached it with brads, having first created a crease down one edge so that it could be easily opened. It even has it's own little door knob and letter box, both by Tim Holtz. The letter box is grunge board which I embossed.
What is behind the door?
A co-ordinating journalling sticker from the same HG collection, all ready for writing a new home congratulations message.
It went without saying that the image I would use is Madison ~ Moving Home from the Holly & Madison Collection.
I coloured her with my copics and raised her up on foam pads. I made the box she is carrying out of kraft paper. I printed the Madison image twice onto a piece of scrap paper. Cut out two small pieces of kraft paper just slightly bigger than the box, stuck them onto the printed images where the box is (with double sided tape) and ran it all back through the printer. Then I peeled off the kraft paper and cut out the box. I cut it out in full the first time and the second time, just cut the flap and stuck it on to the first box with a foam pad.
Thank you for looking.

don't forget to take a picture

This is my fourth (but not final) week as guest designer at Dottie's World. This week Adele set the challenge 'to include two of the Charmed Download images, mix and match, resize, whatever you fancy but I need to see two images'.

I have also combined this, with this week's ABC Challenge where 'F is for flowers' - there should be flowers on your project.

This is what I came up with:
All papers are from the S.E.I. ~ Oasis collection. I have divided the card in half so that one half is a sunny beach side and the other a green tropical side. I have machine stitched the layered cardstock and have one distressed edge.
I have tried to create a film negative effect to echo the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner, which reads: 'Where ever in the world you go, don't forget to take a picture'. I used Tim Holtz ~ Distress Powder.
<<<Holly on the Beach from the Holly & Madison World Tour.
And this one >>>> is Madison on Safari.

The epoxy stickers and brads are from my stash.

The flowers are a mixture of Prima & Hero Arts.

Thank you for looking.

magnolia mother's day

I needed a card for Mother's Day and as luck would have it, the theme this week at Magnolia Vs Stampavie is Mother's Day! This is very handy as I was planning to use a Magnolia stamp.

In the previous week at Magnolia Vs Stampavie, there had been a sketch challenge. Unfortunately, I hadn't had a chance to play, but as I liked the sketch so much, I decided to use it for my card this week.

So, here is the sketch.

This card also celebrates my first year in card making, as I made my very first card for Mother's Day last year. It was awful, although I thought it was great at the time! LOL!

Unfortunately the yellows in the cardstock haven't come through in the photos very well ~ it looks a lot better irl!!
All papers used are from the My Mind's Eye ~ Fresh collection. I cut the circles on my Cricut machine and all edges have been inked. The sentiment is computer generated.

The image is Magnolia ~ Tilda with bunch of flowers and I coloured her with my Copics.

The flowers are a mixture of Prima and Bazzill.

Thank you for looking.

amour ~ Holly in Paris

There is a fabulous sketch by Karen over at Dottie's World this week and also a {prize} which is well worth playing for.

This is my third week as guest designer and I got a chance to play with the fabulous new designs by Louise from Holly and Madison's World Tour.
For the sketch 'The scalloped edge merely depict some sort of fancy edge. It doesn't have to be scallops but you MUST provide a fancy edge of some description, this is not an element that can be changed.'
Here is what I came up with:
The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye ~ Beats of my heart. I cut a fancy heart border with my Fiskars border punch and layered it in two colours, before adding a little ribbon trim. The heart is a piece of grunge board which I had made for another project and hadn't used.

The image is Holly in France and I coloured her with my copics.
Well on this particular day she is visiting Paris. The Eiffel Tower stamp and sentiment is by Penny Black, which I embossed with my Tim Holtz ~ Distress Powder.
All other brads and ribbons were from my stash.

Thank you for looking.

vacation USA

This is my second week as guest designer at Dottie's World. The theme this week is 'to see some kind of fabric incorporated in the card or item, it could be felt, ribbon, lace, cotton etc and of course a Charmed download'.

Here is my card: All patterned papers are Cosmo Cricket ~ Halfway Cafe. You can see a bit of curling and distressing of the papers, as I wanted to emphasise the aged look and give the card a kind of Wild West theme.
I have used little ribbon stars to meet the conditions of the challenge and I distressed these with Tim Holtz ~ Distress Inks.
The blocks on which the letters are sitting are pieces of grungeboard which I have distressed with crackle paints and distress inks.
I also did the same to the chipboard letters. I had to play around with the inks quite a bit until I got the colours that I wanted. So quite a few different colours have gone into the mix to achieve the final outcome.
The image is Dottie's World ~ Holly in the USA. I coloured her up with my copics.

explore ...

The Everybody-Art-Challenge this week, is a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch which I followed.

In addition, I am also entering my card into two other challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge which has a theme of 'torn edges'; and

ABC Challenge where 'D is for distressing'.

Well I think there are plenty of torn edges and distressing going on here.
All papers used are from Crate Paper ~ Hampton Collection. Brads are by Making Memories and ribbons from my stash. The 'explore' snap is by We R Memory Keepers.

The image is Gorjuss Girl ~ A Little Bird Told Me. I have coloured her up with my Copics.
As you can see there is a lot of inking and tearing and curling of edges.
Thank you for looking.

gorjuss girl believe

I can't believe that I've had my Gorjuss Girls for nearly a week and have only just gotten round to inking one up!

For the card, I used this week's sketch at the Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog. The idea is to use the sketch and your newest stash. Well my Gorjuss Girls are the newest stash I have.

All cardstock used is Cosmo Cricket ~ Halfway Cafe.

I added some Tim Holtz bits and pieces and the ribbons, buttons and brads were from my stash.
The Gorjuss Girl image is Just a Girl and I coloured her with my Copics.
